Responsibilities
  • Measures and mixes ingredients to form dough or batter, using electric mixer or beats and stirs ingredients by hand. Accurately follows and adheres precisely to established recipes.
  • Shapes dough for cookies, bread, pies, pastries, cakes, and any other bakery item. Accurately bakes products to recipe specifications.
  • Adjusts drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures.
  • Prepares and cooks ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards, or other desserts.
  • Makes pies according to recipe.
  • Mixes ingredients to make icings. Blends colors for icings and for shaped sugar ornaments/decorations.
  • Decorates and finishes cakes and pastries to satisfaction.
  • Makes chocolate and sugar decorations for food outlets.
  • Has thorough understanding of proper operation of all bake shop equipment including ovens, mixers, dividers, rounders, dough sheeters, etc.
  • Remains knowledgeable on and adheres to proper time/temperature controls.
  • Properly covers labels and dates any/all food products as necessary before storage.
  • Conducts proper FIFO procedures when stocking/replenishing coolers, freezers and/or dry storage areas.
  • Able to understand follow production logs and quantities precisely.
  • Thoroughly cleans workstation and equipment prior to end of shift.
  • Serves as an ambassador for all Food and Beverage outlets.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitary conditions of workstation.
  • Performs all assigned cleaning and general maintenance tasks.
  • Reports issues and/or guest complaints to leader.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise.
  • Reports issues to Management.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Management.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one to two years’ experience in bakery or full‑service restaurant preferred. Prior knowledge of proper food holding temperatures and the ability to identify temperature danger zones and understanding the proper use of cleaning chemicals preferred but not required.
  • Must have ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Ability to identify all products used in kitchen operation.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute recipes.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
