Job summary

Sonessa International Hotels in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Pastry Cook to join our bakery team. You will follow the Pastry Chef's direction to produce pastry and bakery items for all hotel outlets, ensuring quality, freshness, and timely delivery.

The role requires 3 years of pastry kitchen experience in a luxury hotel and a culinary degree or relevant experience. You’ll manage production, maintain cleanliness, and support cost controls while upholding high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by the outlets.
  • Plan and organize production, purchasing and scheduling.
  • Control food and labor costs.
  • Produce the highest quality standards for bakery and pastry.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of pastry cooking and decorating techniques.
  • Work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines and demands of business.
  • Check staffing, uniforms, daily production sheets, etc.
  • Check production for all meal periods to ensure consistency.
  • Attend department meetings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

What this role is all about

The Pastry Cook is responsible for pastry and baking production, following the directive of the Pastry Chef, for all hotel outlets. The baker is responsible for the quality and timeliness of the product and for the cleanliness and organization of the pastry shop.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines and demands of business
  • Check staffing, uniforms, daily production sheets, etc
  • Check production for all meal periods to ensure consistency
  • Attend department meetings
