Job description

Location: Bluffton, IN

We are mixing up something new in Bluffton, IN. This is an exciting time to join our team. Pretzels, Inc is now a part of Hershey Salty Snacks. We have over 40 years of experience in making pretzels and delivering high-quality snacks to consumers.

Pay:

• Starting at $20.13/hr, overnight shift has a $0.85/hr shift differential
• Weekly pay
• $500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates

Shifts:

• Day shift available
• 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm)
• Working 3-4 days/week (One week: Sun, Wed, Thurs; Next week: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat). This is a 2-2-3 schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation)

Summary:

Bakers are the start of the pretzel making process. You’ll be responsible for running a large mixer and extruder with computer programming and hand measuring. Previous machine operating experience is a must. Large bakery experience is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow all SOPs to keep consistent product quality
• Recognize different dough textures
• Keep hoppers filled with proper amounts of dough
• Properly measure minor ingredients by performing catch samples
• Check dough temperature
• Check the flour sifter each shift
• Check all drives, cookers, salters, ovens, dryers, discharge, and proofing conveyors to ensure proper operation and correct settings
• Document cuts per minute as required
• Check and record caustic every 30 minutes on BakerQC
• Check wet weights/length every 30 minutes and record on BakerQC
• Make inventory moves in S4 Hana
• Record all ingredient lot numbers
• Keep salter full with the correct level
• Notify leads, QA, and packers of any bad product and its shelf life
• Communicate with immediate supervisor if any problems arise
• Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor and management

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire
• High School diploma or GED
• One month related experience or training
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a manufacturing/food manufacturing environment including GMP, SQF, autonomous/preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, and Warehouse Management Systems such as SAP/LPR
