Be part of the Swedish American Museum’s Café in Andersonville.
JOB POSTING
Part-time to possibly Full-time, three - five days a week. Early morning hours and ability to be flexible with work schedule. Our candidate must be dependable, consistent, show attention to detail and, be self-motivated, along with maintaining excellent quality control. This position reports to the Executive Director.
DUTIES
The candidate will be the main person responsible for all products sold in the Museum Café. The position involves mixing, scaling, shaping, and baking Swedish and other baked rolls, bread, cakes, and cookies.
Candidate must assure consistency and quality of all baked goods on a regular basis and follow recipes and measurements accurately from start to finished products.
The candidate must keep all equipment and work areas clean and assure all equipment is maintained according to all specifications.
RELATED DUTIES
The candidate must become familiar with the history of the Museum Community so to engage on regular occasion directly with visitors. The candidate will also interact with other members of the Museum’s staff to share information and be part of a collaborative endeavor to achieve the Museum’s strategic objectives. Other duties may/can be assigned by the Executive Director.
Education Requirements
The candidate must have 2-5 years baking or similar industry experience. A two year or four year degree or certification from a recognized culinary school or program is desired but not necessary.
Experience Requirements
The candidate must have experience and knowledge of different baking techniques and ingredients. The candidate must have a food safety and/or sanitation certificate.
SUCCESS FACTORS
The candidate must have the ability to work on their own and work well with others. The ability to multitask a variety of baking projects simultaneously is essential as wells as having the curiosity to learn additional items. Equally essential is the ability to treat all others with respect and courtesy.
