Job summary

Bermuda Airport is seeking a Mechanical Technician to monitor and maintain the BHS and PBB systems, ensuring safe and efficient baggage handling operations. The role involves diagnostics, maintenance, and prompt response to service calls, with coordination across security and IT teams.

Responsibilities include data recording, safety compliance, and supporting operation teams to minimize downtime while upholding airport safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; NCCER certification preferred.
• 2+ years in a mechanical role, ideally with baggage handling systems.
• Proficient in MS Office; strong Excel/Word skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management.
• Able to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with solid verbal and written communication.
• Capable of troubleshooting under pressure and solving problems.
• Flexible with shifts and responsive to operational needs.
• Proactive about process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect BHS and PBB areas for safety issues and report findings.
• Operate and monitor BHS and PBB systems for optimal performance.
• Monitor conveyor system status and troubleshoot faults.
• Remove baggage jams and respond to service calls.
• Coordinate configuration changes with security operations.
• Repair, document, and report service calls and issues.
• Record work orders in the eMaint system and close completed tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades as required.
• Communicate with clients and technicians regularly.
