Job summary

Alameda Unified School District is seeking a badminton coach for high school athletes. The role focuses on teaching core badminton skills, rules, and sportsmanship while supporting student academic progress.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with the Athletic Director, teachers, and parents to foster a positive culture and may participate in fundraising activities. Safety certifications and district-specific clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED Certification, First Aid Card, Coaching Certificate, NFHS Concussion Certificate, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate, NFHS Heat Illness Certificate and knowledge of adolescent psychology required.
• TB test and fingerprint clearance are required per district policy.
• All coach clearance certifications and requirements as stated on the AUSD website. On-line First Aid/CPR not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Teach the fundamental skills and drills of badminton.
• Instruct players in the rules and equipment of the sport.
• Model sports-like behavior towards players, officials, spectators, and families.
• Willingness to work in a group coaching environment.
• Provide academic advising to each player.
• Track the academic progress of each student/athlete.
• Work collaboratively with Athletic Director, Administration, Teachers, and Parents.
• Ability and willingness to fundraise for the program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Job Summary

Three (3) years coaching experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified below.

• Teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game of badminton.
• Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment, of the sport.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, spectators, and families.
• Willingness to work in a group coaching environment.
• Provide academic advising to each player.
• Track the academic progress of each student/athlete.
• Work collaboratively with Athletic Director, Administration, Teachers, and Parents.
• Ability and willingness to fundraise for the program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements / Qualifications

Current CPR/AED Certification, First Aid Card, Coaching Certificate, NFHS Concussion Certificate, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate, NFHS Heat Illness Certificate and knowledge of adolescent psychology required. Valid TB test, Fingerprint clearance, Keenan course completions, and all other AUSD mandated certificates. All coach clearance certifications and requirements as stated on the AUSD website. Please note: First Aid and CPR/AED must be a hand's on training course, we do not accept on-line courses.

High School Coaching experience (any Level) within the last two years, High School Age Club Coaching experience preferred Letter of Introduction Letter(s) of Recommendation (Preferred) Resume (Please provide 2-3 references in your resume)

Comments and Other Information

The ideal candidate has experience coaching Badminton and working with high school students. This position will support a culture that will support developing student athletes on and off the court and has a coaching philosophy in line with the Inside Out Coaching Initiative.
