Job summary

Health Research, Inc. in Albany, NY, seeks a Research Scientist I to support the Wadsworth Center’s bacteriology lab, advancing clinical testing with conventional and molecular methods.

You will accession specimens, culture bacteria, perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and work on pathogens of public health importance, including resistant and emerging strains. This onsite role supports health surveillance and protection efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology and two years of research experience.
• Master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology and one year of research experience.
• Degrees must be from an accredited institution.
• Meet all Federal requirements for staff who perform clinical testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and utilize conventional and molecular methods for bacterial disease testing.
• Accession specimens and perform bacterial culture on aerobic and anaerobic organisms.
• Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Work with bacteria including resistant, vaccine-preventable, sexually transmitted and emerging pathogens.
