Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Ottumwa, IA is hiring for a Bacon Production Hourly role. You will manufacture product to specifications in a fast-paced bacon department, with exposure to cold environments and potential overtime.

The position requires reliable attendance, willingness to work days and nights, and completion of safety and GMP training; previous manufacturing experience is preferred, with 3 months minimum in the last five years.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment in the last 5 years.
• 1+ year of related experience preferred.
• Willing to work in coolers and freezers, and in areas with extreme temperatures.

Job Title: Bacon Production Hourly

Location: Ottumwa IA

JBS Prepared Foods is hiring for quality, motivated, people to join the JBS team in our Bacon Department!

Key Responsibilities and Accountability include but are not limited to:

• Manufacture product consistent with product specifications for the assigned work area.
• Complete mandatory safety training as outlined for the job assignment.
• Complete mandatory food safety/GMP training as outlined for the job assignment.
• Assist with product reconditioning as needed and directed

Qualifications/Requirements include:

• Minimum of 3 months experience working in a similarly situated manufacturing company in the previous 5 years; 1+ years of experience preferred
• Minimum of 6 months in previously held positions

Applicants should be willing or capable of working and performing jobs in the following areas in the plant:

• Work in an areas where livestock is being killed
• Work regularly in temperatures are near or below freezing (Coolers, Loading Dock Freezer)
• Work in areas with unpleasant odors
• Work in damp or cold conditions (35-45 Degrees)
• Work in extreme heat (minimal)
• Work in areas that require you to lift, pull, or push 50 lbs.
• Work with sharp knives or a cutting tool
• Willing and capable of working overtime when necessary (Heavy Season- August-February)
• Available to work days and nights
• Willing and capable of working Saturdays
• Willing and capable of working in or around bloody areas, in a fast-paced work environment, performing repetitive hand motions and body movements. Physical demanding jobs may take 5 to 6 weeks for the body to fully adjust to the work conditions, work environment, and job descriptions.
