Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. in Monmouth, IL, seeks a Utility Butcher to support the Bacon Department on production lines, filling in during absenteeism and assisting with supervisory tasks in the absence of the supervisor.

You must be a high school graduate with good English, able to work with teammates, and demonstrate problem-solving abilities; Excel knowledge is a plus. The role offers growth opportunities and a pathway to supervisor roles within the plant.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma, equivalency or in process of getting it.
• Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Able to work with co-workers proactively and in a team environment.
• Shows problem solving abilities.
• Some knowledge of Excel or other computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Know all or at least key jobs for Bacon Department.
• Fill in on production line for absenteeism.
• Fill in on production line for individuals who need to be let off the line.
• Help supervisor answer government lights.
• Help with supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor.
• Additional responsibilities will be required and explained upon job offer.
