Northrop Grumman is seeking Aircraft Mechanics for our Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program. Positions are based out of Robins AFB, Georgia with domestic and international travel. (An additional international compensation package is offered for long‑term deployments). BACN is a communications system used by the US Air Force and special forces and missions partners. BACN allows military and coalition forces to exchange information seamlessly. It operates at high altitudes on platforms like the E‑11A modified Bombardier BD700 business jet and EQ‑4B Global Hawk. BACN overcomes terrain limitations, mitigates communications issues caused by mountains, terrain and distance, which are particularly relevant for Special Forces operating in challenging environments. BACN enhances situational awareness and provides a more complete picture of the battlespace to ground units, aircrews and command centers, including special operations forces. BACN enables a Special Forces operative using a cell phone to communicate directly with a fighter pilot for targeting information. BACN plays a critical role in facilitating communication between different branches of the military and improving mission success in critical scenarios, including those involving special operations.
