Job summary

Sharon Public Schools is seeking a Back-Up Lead Custodian to support a safe, clean, healthy school environment at Heights Elementary School in Sharon, MA. The role performs daily custodial and grounds duties and assumes Lead Custodian responsibilities when the Building Lead is unavailable.

Reports to the Custodial Lead, Building Principal, and Director of Facilities. The position requires working with the district team and adhering to district policies and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform custodial, groundskeeping, and minor maintenance tasks calmly and logically.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to use and maintain custodial tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain interior and exterior areas per the district's Tasks & Frequencies.
• Clean surfaces and equipment including floors, restrooms, and classrooms.
• Move furniture as needed for activities.
• Maintain grounds: sweeping, raking, mowing, debris removal.
• Shovel snow and clear walkways; operate snow removal equipment when trained.
• Open/close the building; secure doors and windows daily.
• Report major repairs and submit work orders.
