Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Backroom Manager in Council Bluffs, IA. This hourly role oversees the backroom operations, ensuring safe, efficient receiving and storage, while leading the backroom team to maintain organization from dock to floor.

The ideal candidate will have a High school diploma or equivalent, 6 months to 1 year of related experience, and supervisory experience is preferred. Forklift certification is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Lead and manage backroom employees, maintaining high standards and a productive work environment.
• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to keep the store running smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one.
• Plan, prepare, and adjust work schedules, assign employees to specific duties, and follow up to ensure tasks are completed properly and on time.
• Receive product from trucks, verify invoices for accuracy, sign vendor paperwork, and receive all vendor orders.
• Unload trucks using forklifts and ensure product is placed in a non-intrusive area before delivering items to the appropriate department.
• Protect the cold food chain and maintain the integrity of all product throughout the receiving process.
