Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking an Equipment Operator II for the Utility Services Department to operate light and medium equipment and support street and utility maintenance in Central Louisiana.

Must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class B CDL (Air Brakes endorsement within five months), and experience with backhoes, tractors, and related machinery. Work includes responding to emergencies and performing routine preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Class B CDL required with Air Brakes endorsement within five months of hire.
• Experience operating medium-sized equipment (backhoes, bush hogs, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Operates backhoe to perform digging, trenching, and clearing for public utilities and infrastructure.
• Inspects and prepares equipment for safe operation; performs light maintenance and refueling.
• Responds to emergency calls during inclement weather or other emergencies.
• Applicants must be able to operate a Backhoe.
