Job summary

Texas Materials is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Backhoe/Broom Operator to support construction, paving, and roadway maintenance operations. This position requires operating backhoes and power broom equipment to perform excavation, trenching, material handling, site cleanup, and roadway sweeping activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating backhoe equipment.
• Experience operating construction sweepers or power broom equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of safe heavy equipment operating procedures.
• Ability to operate backhoes and power broom equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and production efficiency.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate backhoe and broom equipment on construction and paving projects.
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling.
• Operate power broom to clean roads and paving surfaces.
• Read project plans, grade stakes, and follow supervisor instructions.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Complete equipment maintenance reports accurately.
• Maintain awareness of underground utilities and nearby personnel.
• Assist other crews as needed.
• Maintain safe work practices and quality workmanship.
