Job summary

US Foods is seeking qualified Backhaul Drivers to safely transport freight between vendors and distribution centers. As part of our team you’ll verify freight, monitor trailer temperatures, and return tractors and trailers after routes, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Applicants must hold CDL Class A, be 21+, have FMCSA Clearinghouse registration, 6 months driving experience in food/beverage, and be willing to travel 2–3 times per week; English literacy is required; we value a strong

Qualifications

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months in food/beverage delivery.
• Manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations.
• Willingness to travel 2-3 times per week.
• Must be able to read and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive truck to vendors and drop-off sites.
• Verify freight, trailer temperatures and freight accuracy with vendors.
• Return tractor and trailer to division after route completion.
• Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.

Main Ingredients of the Job

• Safely drive truck to vendors and company drop-off sites
• Verify freight on truck, required trailer temperatures and accuracy of freight with vendors
• Return tractor and trailer to division when route is completed
• Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection

Physical Requirements

• Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required
• Must be able to perform coupling procedures for the Tractor/Trailer

What You Bring To The Table

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
• Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Willingness to travel 2-3 times per week required
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

The expected base rate for this role is between $29.00 and $33.43
