Job summary

AiDash in Palo Alto, CA is offering two Backend Software Engineering Intern positions to help build scalable backend systems behind our growth.

You'll own backend work from design to production, work on Java or Python services, and collaborate with data pipelines and cross-functional teams. Mentorship from a senior engineer and a potential full-time offer for strong performers are part of the program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Java or Python.
• Experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Proven project work or internships with design decisions and trade-offs.
• Experience with Git, unit testing, and CI workflows.
• Open-source contributions or public GitHub portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test backend services and APIs in Java or Python.
• Own a scoped project end-to-end from design to production.
• Work with data pipelines processing satellite and sensor data.
• Write clean, well-documented, and tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams and present at internship review.

Job description

• Our satellite and AI-powered products are changing how utilities see and protect the grid, and we’re gearing up for aggressive customer growth over the next two years. We’re hiring two Backend Software Engineering Interns in Palo Alto to help build the backend systems behind that growth
• This is a real engineering internship, not a sandbox project. You’ll own scoped backend work that ships to production, with day-to-day mentorship from a senior engineer who will review your code, pair with you on design, and help you grow fast. Strong performers will be considered for a full-time return offer
• Our pending acquisition by Schneider Electric will accelerate our mission as we bring our combined offering to our joint customer base, and the work you do will reach customers at an even greater scale
• Design, build, and test backend services and APIs in Java or Python
• Own a scoped project end to end, from design doc to production
• Work with data pipelines that process satellite, sensor, and operational data at scale
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code and take part in code reviews
• Use AI coding tools thoughtfully to move faster without cutting corners on quality
• Debug issues across services and learn how production systems behave under real load
• Be curious, seek feedback early, and act on it
• Partner with engineers across teams to understand how your work fits the bigger platform
• Present your work to the engineering team at the end of the internship
• What success looks like by the end of your internship:
• Your project is shipped to production, or production-ready and documented
• Your code has passed review and is running in real customer workflows
• You can clearly explain the design choices and trade-offs behind your work
• Your mentor and team see you as someone they want back full-time

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science or a closely related field
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
• Solid programming skills in Java or Python, and curiosity about other languages
• You learn quickly, ask good questions, and use AI tools well
• At least one serious project or prior internship you can go deep on: the problem, your design choices, the trade-offs, and what you’d change
• Exposure to REST APIs, SQL or NoSQL databases, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Interest in geospatial data, climate, energy, or infrastructure
• Experience with Git, unit testing, and CI workflows
• Open-source contributions, hackathon projects, or a public GitHub you’re proud of
