Job summary

Matic is seeking a meticulous Backend Software Engineer in Menlo Park to help build production tooling and scale our home robotics software. You’ll work with hardware, mechanical, and software engineers to deliver robust Rust-based systems in a fast-paced startup setting.

You will own core tooling for manufacturing and internal processes, collaborate across teams, and take ownership from concept through shipping.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' experience in backend software development.
• Proficiency in Rust, or strong systems programming background with eagerness to work primarily in Rust.
• Experience building internal tooling or production support systems.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware engineers and production teams.
• Comfort with a fast-paced, startup atmosphere — you don't shy away from the hard work.
• High level of maturity, ownership, and pride in your work.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale internal tools that support and streamline our production facilities.
• Develop robust systems in Rust to improve manufacturing efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Production teams to bring tooling needs to life.
• Recognize opportunities to create tools and improve infrastructure for better cross-team efficiency.
• Be an integral member of our small software team.
