Motion Recruitment is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its Payments & Partnerships team in a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA. You will own backend features end-to-end, design, develop, test, and deploy scalable services while collaborating with product managers and frontend engineers.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of backend experience with Java/Kotlin or Python/.NET, strong SQL, and a passion for clean code, testing, and modern deployment pipelines.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Java, Kotlin, or comparable languages such as Python or .NET.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with relational databases and strong SQL skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering production software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.

The Offer

• Base Salary: $163,000 - $220,000 annually
