Job summary

go-e is building a modern, scalable platform used by Fleet Managers and Technicians. This engineer role focuses on backend application development while contributing to frontend features as needed.

You will work across the stack with product, design, and engineering to deliver reliable, impactful features, keeping a strong backend focus. You’ll collaborate on APIs, data models, and production-grade infrastructure, while enabling frontend experiences through thoughtful integration and performance

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, NestJS or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design.

Our engineering culture emphasizes autonomy, code quality, and ownership. We're looking for an engineer whose primary focus is backend application development while also being comfortable contributing to frontend features when needed.

You'll collaborate across the entire application stack — from APIs and business logic to user-facing experiences — working closely with product, design, and engineering to turn ideas into reliable, impactful features, while maintaining the majority of your focus on the backend development.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy understanding the bigger picture: solving backend challenges, shaping user experiences, and seeing their work move from concept to production. You'll work closely with platform and infrastructure teams while staying focused on building the products and experiences our customers rely on.

• Design and ship features across backend services and user-facing applications
• Work with systems handling high volumes of IoT telemetry data

• Create experiences that directly impact how customers interact with our products

What We're Looking For

Backend / Application Services

• At least 3 years of backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, NestJS or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, schema design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, input validation and application security.
• Experience working with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Understanding of logging, monitoring, debugging and performance optimization.
• Ability to design scalable backend architectures and caching strategies.
• Experience with real-time communication using WebSockets.

Frontend / Web

• Experience building web applications with React and TypeScript.
• Understanding of centralized state management with Redux and React Context.
• Solid foundation in HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs.
• Understanding of asynchronous data handling, error management and frontend performance.

Nice to Have

• Experience writing internal tools or SDKs.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience working in startup or fast-paced environments.
