Job summary

PayPal, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer in New York, NY to architect, develop, and maintain scalable REST APIs using Java, ensuring they meet the needs of PayPal’s global customer base.

You will work with geographically dispersed teams to deliver high-quality, bug-free code in an agile environment. You will own the complete software development lifecycle, write unit tests, and apply test-driven development, with an emphasis on reliability, security, and observability using Kibana and Datadog.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, plus 1 year of experience or
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, plus 3 years of experience.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using object-oriented design.
• Experience with Java, Python, and SQL.
• Experience in backend development with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs in Java.
• Experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux/Reactive.
• Experience with AI/ML integration for building intelligent developer tools and API experiences.
• Experience with application monitoring and observability tools (Kibana and Datadog).
• Experience with test-driven development and writing comprehensive unit tests.
• Experience deploying code in environments without dedicated QA.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
