Onyx Point, Inc. is seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer with a TS/SCI Full Scope Poly clearance to join our defense-focused team in the United States.

You will design and implement scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and data models using Java, Spring, Hibernate, and modern CI/CD pipelines. You will collaborate across engineering disciplines in a fast-paced environment, contributing to architecture decisions and delivering high-quality software compliant with security

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience developing backend systems in Java.
• Strong proficiency with Java and core JVM concepts.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Practical experience with Spring and Spring Boot with the ability to evaluate when it’s appropriate to use.
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate.
• Relational databases; NoSQL is a plus.
• Designing scalable, maintainable software systems.
• Git version control experience.
• Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Code reviews and high code quality standards.
• Agile development experience.
• Strong cross-team collaboration.
• Experience in DevOps and AWS cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Integrate software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop data queries for databases or data repositories.
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and standards.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet performance standards.
• Assist with testing procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Lead software development teams and coordinate work.
