Job summary

Abnormal AI seeks a Software Engineer to build and evolve our platform at scale. You will blend backend systems development with AI-powered features, owning well-scoped pieces end-to-end and collaborating with senior engineers to improve reliability and reduce latency.

You'll work on scalable APIs, ML integrations, and production systems, shaping the architecture while contributing to design discussions and on-call rotations in a fast-paced security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of industry experience shipping backend systems.
• Solid Python backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of system design and scalability.
• Experience with relational databases and data storage.
• Familiar with AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to write technical documentation and participate in design reviews.
• Experience with Redis and Kafka is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on scalable backend and ML systems, APIs, frameworks, and internal tools.
• Own well-scoped features with guidance from senior engineers on complex work.
• Improve reliability, latency, and production readiness of critical systems.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with attention to edge cases.
• Contribute to design documents and participate in design reviews.
• Participate in code reviews and on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to align on priorities.
