Job summary

Lyft in Toronto is seeking a Backend Engineer for Trust & Safety to ship high-impact safety features across the platform, collaborating with product, design, and policy partners.

You will design and implement distributed backend services using Python, Go, and AWS, lead features end-to-end, and participate in code reviews and on-call rotations while driving safety improvements for millions of riders and drivers.

Qualifications

• BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, CS, or related field or relevant work experience.
• 3 years of software engineering industry experience.
• Extensive experience in object oriented programming, ideally in GoLang or Python.
• Experience in backend software development of distributed systems and concurrency.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions based on technology and business needs.
• Independently lead features from idea to execution and launch.
• Unblock, support and communicate with internal partners to achieve results.

• Utilize Python, Go, and AWS to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge via tech talks.
