Job summary

Peregrine Advisors in Washington, DC area is seeking a backend engineer to build the services and secure APIs that power federal filings, moving submissions through processing, validation, and decisioning. You will implement Python and FastAPI on AWS, leverage PostgreSQL for data, and design authentication and access control with auditable delivery in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and hands-on experience building secure REST APIs (FastAPI or similar) on AWS.
• The backend fundamentals behind them: PostgreSQL, authentication and access control, and clean, automated delivery.
• The judgment to build in a regulated federal environment where security and auditability are not optional.

Responsibilities

• Backend services and REST APIs in Python and FastAPI that power a federal agency process: submission through processing, validation, and decisioning.
• Cloud-based on AWS—Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3, with PostgreSQL for data and identity handling.
• Ensure secure, auditable delivery and contribute to expanding capabilities over time.
