Job summary

BCforward in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable cloud-native applications using Python, FastAPI/Flask, and AWS.

You will work with microservices, serverless architectures, containers, CI/CD, IaC, and AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, and Redis. The role emphasizes secure, reliable systems with OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and strong collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Python, API development, and AWS Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with microservices, serverless architectures, containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services and REST APIs using Python (FastAPI/Flask).
• Build cloud-native and serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications on ECS/Fargate and EKS/Kubernetes.
• Implement event-driven architectures using SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
• Design and optimize data solutions using RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redis/ElastiCache.
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or AWS DevOps tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging, security, and reliability best practices using CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, and OpenTelemetry.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and mentor junior engineers.
