Job summary

Uber is building a next-generation logistics platform that tracks packages across a regional carrier network, from pickup to doorstep. This role focuses on designing core services and scalable features used daily by merchants, drivers, warehouses, and customers.

You will own end-to-end operations, contribute to data-driven architecture, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across product, design, data, and operations. Seattle-based base salary discussed below.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Golang, Java, or a similar language.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Willingness to own your products end-to-end - operations, maintenance, and reliability included.
• Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core services that track and orchestrate the movement of packages across the network - from pickup to final delivery.
• Build scalable features used by merchants, drivers, warehouse operators, and end customers.
• Model the domain and design event-driven data models for logistics.
• Write maintainable, scalable code on platform primitives (Go, distributed datastores, workflow orchestration, streaming/event buses, RPC).
• Drive data-driven architecture and systems design decisions.
• Build reliable alerting and monitoring and own the operations and on-call health.
