As a Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services while ensuring high performance and reliability. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions, engage in system design discussions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions. By taking ownership of your work, from writing clean, high-quality code to participating in code reviews and defining clear user stories—you’ll play a key role in shaping the product.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of your code by preparing for code reviews and explaining the design patterns applied.
- Define user stories with clear inputs and outputs to reflect the users affected by your code.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and system design discussions to enhance application scalability and maintainability.
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Engage in team discussions and contribute ideas.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience developing large-scale, high-performance web applications.
- Solid hands-on experience in backend development using Java and Spring.
- Proficient in working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Industry experience and knowledge of:
- Docker, Kubernetes, and preferably Helm.
- AWS or GCP infrastructure projects.
- Building cloud-native applications in Java with an eye towards operability, maintainability, and scaling.
- Comfortable communicating entirely in English as part of a global team.
- You must have work authorization to work in Prague, CZ.
