Job summary

Signify Technology is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our early-stage AI-enabled platform. You will help scale the integration layer, support complex customer implementations, and shape how AI is applied across the product.

The role focuses on Ruby on Rails development, building enterprise-grade integrations, and collaborating with a hands-on founding engineering team in a dynamic environment. Remote (US) or Austin, TX options provided.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Able to thrive in a fast-moving startup and handle ambiguity.
• Strong communicator, able to work directly with customers.
• Experience building integrations across REST, SOAP, JSON-RPC, and flat-file formats.

$150,000 – $180,000 base salary + equity

About The Client:

An early-stage, well-funded enterprise software company building a platform that connects and automates back-office systems for finance, HR, and operations teams. The founding engineering team is small and hands-on, with the AI product direction still being actively shaped.

Role Overview:

This platform combines configurable integration pipelines with applied AI to eliminate manual data work across a company's back-office systems. You'll join the founding engineering team to help scale the integration layer, support complex customer implementations, and shape how AI gets applied across the product.

Responsibilities:

• Support integration requirements across major ERP, HRIS, and payroll platforms
• Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions shaping the company's core AI product
• Write production-ready code built to handle enterprise-scale workloads
• Own features end-to-end: design, build, test, and deploy

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience primarily with Ruby on Rails
• Comfortable working through ambiguity in a fast-moving startup environment
• Strong communicator, comfortable working directly with customers
• Experience building integrations across multiple API types, including REST, SOAP, JSON-RPC, and flat-file formats

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with building agentic AI systems
• Experience with enterprise SaaS or B2B integrations and HR/Payroll systems
