Job summary

Reddit is seeking an IAM backend engineer for a remote-friendly role focused on identity, authentication, and authorization services used by millions of users and backend systems.

You will design distributed backend services, collaborate with product management, security, and engineering teams, and shape the IAM roadmap to support growth and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing and developing distributed backend systems.
• IAM backend experience in either authorization or authentication domain.
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages (preferably Go).
• Capability with essential cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP).
• High empathy and excellent communication skills to collaborate across the organization.

The Identity and Access Management team develops and maintains a set of mission critical, highly performant, and highly scalable systems that manage user identity, authentication, and authorization for all of our millions of daily users and backend services.

Some of our present and future challenges include:

• Building systems around consumer IAM to meet the needs of Reddit’s engineering organization and millions of daily users.
• Design, build and ship backend services powering experiences for one of the most visited sites in the world.
• Work with product management, security, client engineering, and backend teams to define and implement Reddit’s IAM vision and roadmap.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Steer: Work with the team to select, scope, and execute on high leverage projects that align with Reddit’s goals.
• Build: Execute on a strategy and create a more performant, more scalable, higher quality architecture around IAM.
• XFN Collaboration: Work together with a variety of cross functional teams across Reddit Engineering.

Pay Transparency:

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base salary range for this position is: $164,200 — $229,900 USD
