Job summary

Stronghold Investment Management is hiring an entry‑level Software Engineer I to join the Tech Development team in Dallas, TX. You will contribute to backend systems, APIs, and data infrastructure powering a fast-paced, data-driven investment firm.

You’ll work primarily in Ruby on Rails, gaining hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and Microsoft Azure while collaborating with senior engineers, data teams, and product managers to ship reliable, scalable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 1–3 years of backend experience.
• Ruby on Rails experience in professional work or projects.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OOP.
• Hands-on SQL experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
• Exposure to Redis, Elasticsearch, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and Git.
• Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven systems is a plus.
• Cloud and container familiarity, especially Azure and Docker.
• CI/CD awareness and modern deployment practices.
• Analytical mindset and a team-oriented Agile approach.
• Willingness to learn and uphold the Stronghold standard of excellence.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend systems, APIs, and data workflows in Rails.
• Learn the stack across Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and Azure.
• Ensure data integrity and accessibility for investment teams.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in reviews.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data workflows.
• Integrate internal systems and third‑party APIs.
• Develop event‑driven workflows with Kafka.
• Automate data ingestion, validation, and transformations.
• Develop apps on Azure and cloud deployment practices.
• Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and Agile ceremonies.
• Troubleshoot performance issues, data discrepancies, and system failures.
• Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting.
