Job summary

RedTech Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a growing, integration-led SaaS company. This hands-on role focuses on building and maintaining connections with external partners using PHP and Symfony, while also contributing to AWS infrastructure.

You will design and implement partner integrations, ensure reliability via testing and CI/CD, and work remotely from the UK with occasional travel to London for meetings.

Qualifications

• Proven production backend experience with PHP
• Commercial Symfony experience in production apps/services
• Experience building and maintaining multiple integrations with external partners
• Experience taking integrations through development, testing, launch and production support
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, rate limiting, retries, idempotency, queues and asynchronous processing
• Experience building adapters or transformation layers between external systems
• Experience monitoring production integrations and investigating failures
• Production AWS experience including containers, monitoring, infrastructure as code and incident response
• Strong CI/CD and automated testing practices
• Ability to adapt integrations when partner APIs change
• Experience working autonomously in startup/scale-up environments
• Pragmatic engineering balancing quality and delivery
• Willingness to take long-term ownership of integrations after launch
• UK-based with right to work; visa sponsorship not available

Responsibilities

A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a growing, integration-led SaaS company. This is a hands-on role for a true integration engineer who has repeatedly built and maintained connections with different external partners, rather than a general product engineer who has only occasionally connected third-party services. You will use PHP and Symfony to develop a portfolio of production integrations while also contributing to the company’s AWS infrastructure.

• Strong commercial experience developing production backend systems using PHP


• Commercial Symfony experience within production applications or services


• Proven experience personally building and maintaining multiple integrations with different external partners


• Experience taking integrations through development, testing, launch and ongoing production support


• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, rate limiting, retries, idempotency, queues and asynchronous processing


• Experience building connectors, adapters or transformation layers between different external systems


• Experience monitoring production integrations and investigating failures involving both internal and partner systems


• Meaningful production AWS experience, including containers, monitoring, infrastructure as code and incident response


• Strong understanding of automated testing, code quality and CI/CD practices


• Comfortable adapting integrations when partners change their APIs, schemas, credentials or platform behaviour


• Experience working autonomously within a startup, scale-up, SME or small product engineering team


• A pragmatic approach to engineering, with the ability to balance technical quality against commercial delivery requirements


• Comfortable taking long-term ownership of integrations after launch


• Must be based in the UK with existing right to work. Visa sponsorship is not available.

• Fully remote within the UK, although ideally you will be based near London


• You must be available to travel to London for occasional team meetings and start work at 8:30am UK time


• £55,000 - £70,000 per annum


• Additional paid weekend on-call rota, performance bonus and share options
