Obvio is hiring a Software Engineer for the backend systems that power our annotation workflows. You’ll help design scalable distributed pipelines, focusing on performance, security, and observability while collaborating with product, ML, and operations teams.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of backend experience and a track record building production-grade distributed systems in fast-paced environments. Join a small, ambitious team driving road safety at scale.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years backend engineering experience.
• Experience building production distributed systems.
• Comfort with observability, alerting, and failure recovery.
• Knowledge of security principles (least privilege, secure transport/storage).
• Ability to translate requirements into solid design and interfaces.
• Collaborative mindset with teammates.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed backend systems for high-throughput data review and annotation pipelines.
• Ensure performance and reliability under real-world load.
• Apply strong security and privacy practices across systems.
• Translate cross-functional requirements into clean APIs and backend abstractions.
• Collaborate with product, ML, and ops teams to improve efficiency and feedback loops.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.
