Qualifications

Airwork is on a mission to become the world’s recruiting engine—connecting startups and growth-stage companies with top-tier talent from emerging markets. In 2025, we’re doubling down on our AI-powered matchmaking engine . We are building a category-defining SaaS platform and we’re looking for a backend engineer who can help us get there.

Join a high-ownership, high-context, fully remote team. Work directly with the founders and play a pivotal role in building and scaling the platform’s backend, LLM-driven services, and internal tools.

What You’ll Do

• Own backend development for core products—design, build, and deploy secure, scalable services.
• Integrate and optimize LLM-based features (e.g., resume matching, job generation, prompt pipelines).
• Lead design and maintenance of RESTful and GraphQL APIs used by client and talent-facing applications.
• Work on AI/ML service orchestration , from prompt engineering and embedding pipelines to async job queues.
• Ensure high availability, fast response times, and secure systems through robust monitoring and dev practices.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with containerized deployments (GitHub Actions, Docker).
• Mentor junior engineers and take increasing ownership over technical architecture.

Must-Haves

• 3–5 years of backend development experience in a production-grade system.
• Expertise in Node.js with Express.js or NestJS.
• Strong skills in MongoDB and scalable data modeling.
• Git, GitHub flow, and CI/CD experience.

Strong Pluses

• TypeScript
• Experience integrating OpenAI / Anthropic / Hugging Face APIs or similar LLMs.
• Vector DBs (Pinecone, Weaviate, or Elasticsearch vector search)
• GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
• Unit, integration, and E2E test frameworks

Bonus Points

• Docker and container orchestration
• Serverless and microservice design patterns
• Prior startup experience
• Leadership or mentorship contributions
