Job summary

BCforward is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer in Jersey City, NJ for a 5+ year track record. The role emphasizes multi-region resiliency, data lifecycle capabilities, and cloud-native delivery.

You will design Java microservices, implement failover, model databases, and deploy on AWS with Terraform. Strong focus on REST APIs, CI/CD, and S3/RDS-based data management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Framework/Spring Boot skills.
• Proven experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong database modeling and SQL skills.
• Hands-on AWS: ECS, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS, Glue, S3, RDS, Route 53.
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins, Bitbucket).
• Terraform experience.
• Basic understanding of workflow orchestration tools.

Responsibilities

Join a platform engineering team within a larger data platforms organization. This Java backend role focuses primarily on multi-region resiliency (East-West failover and replication), with additional work on data lifecycle capabilities (retention, archiving, destruction).
