Job summary

Axiom Trade in Austin is seeking a Backend Engineer to set the technical direction for its core backend infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate ultra-low-latency APIs, indexers, and streaming pipelines to handle high write loads.

You will own performance and reliability across Postgres, Redis, and ClickHouse, work across Solana, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Base, and mentor peers while keeping systems simple and maintainable.

Qualifications

• Backend mastery in building and scaling high-throughput backend services or distributed architectures (TypeScript or Rust).
• Deep data modeling, query optimization, and caching with Postgres, Redis, ClickHouse.
• Proven track record designing APIs and streaming architectures with low latency under heavy concurrency.
• Strong debugging fundamentals across production services, RPC nodes, and database layers.
• Urgency, autonomy, and obsession with shipping reliable, user-focused software.

Responsibilities

• Core Backend Architecture: Set technical direction and architect low-latency APIs, indexing layers, and streaming pipelines powering the core trading product.
• Throughput & Reliability: Own system latency, throughput, and state correctness under continuous, heavy write loads and market volatility.
• High-Volume Data Design: Design robust data schemas and advanced caching strategies across Postgres, Redis, and ClickHouse.
• Multi-Chain Execution: Build and scale services across multiple blockchain networks, including Solana, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Base, and emerging L2s.
• Production Observability & Triage: Rapidly debug production incidents across services, databases, and node/RPC infrastructure.
• System Simplification: Continuously refine fleet architecture to keep systems simple, maintainable, and highly operable while mentoring peers.

Role Summary

As a Backend Engineer, you will set the technical direction for Axiom’s core backend infrastructure. • Backend Mastery: Deep production experience building and scaling high-throughput backend services and distributed architectures (TypeScript or Rust).

• Data Layer Depth: Advanced expertise in data modeling, query optimization, and caching strategies with Postgres, Redis, and ClickHouse.

• High-Load Performance: Proven track record designing APIs and streaming architectures that maintain low latency under heavy concurrency.

• Operational Excellence: Strong debugging fundamentals across production services, RPC nodes, and database layers.

• High Ownership: Urgency, autonomy, and an obsession with shipping reliable, user-focused software.

Nice-to-Haves

• Hands-on experience with on-chain data extraction, indexing engines (Solana Geyser, EVM logs), and mempool mechanics.

• Background in high-frequency trading platforms, order books, DEX aggregators, or high-volume fintech APIs.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual Base Salary: $320,000 – $465,000 USD
