Job description

Backend + Cloud Engineer

LOCATION

Remote (US-based)

In the world of sports and digital media, athletes lead - and we build the platform that powers them. From NIL to endorsements, content campaigns to licensing deals, Opendorse is changing the game for over 140,000 athletes across every level of sport.

We're looking for a backend-focused engineer who’s passionate about tech and wants their work to have a visible impact every day. In this hybrid role, you'll primarily contribute to backend development in our .NET stack, while also owning and growing your skills in Azure cloud infrastructure. You'll play a central role in delivering the secure, scalable systems that fuel athlete success - and help us push the boundaries of what’s possible in sports tech.

This isn’t just another backend job. You’ll have a voice, real ownership, and the opportunity to work with a tight-knit team on a product that’s redefining how athletes connect, earn, and grow.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Contribute to backend development: Design, build, and support .NET-based services and APIs that power athlete experiences and internal tools.
  • Lead cloud architecture and operations: Manage and evolve our Azure ecosystem — App Services, Functions, SQL, Front Door, Service Bus, and more.
  • Scale through infrastructure as code: Use Bicep to automate and secure infrastructure with a strong focus on performance and reliability.
  • Optimize performance: Streamline CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), implement observability tools, reduce costs, and boost system resilience.
  • Secure the platform: Monitor system health, enforce IAM best practices, and stay ahead of Azure security developments.
  • Shape the future: Help define how backend and cloud engineering evolve at Opendorse. Bring ideas, ship solutions, and leave your mark.
  • Collaborate and connect: Work alongside product, engineering, and data teammates who share your passion for building great things — and making a real impact.

OUR STACK

  • Backend: .NET (C#), Azure Functions, REST APIs
  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure — App Services, Azure SQL, Function Apps, AI Search, SignalR, Front Door, DNS, Static Web Apps
  • IaC: Bicep
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines)
  • Monitoring: Application Insights, Azure Monitor
  • Scripting: PowerShell, Bash
  • Database: SQL Server
  • Frontend (if fullstack): React (TypeScript) – not required

ABOUT YOU

You’re a backend engineer who’s excited to deepen your cloud skills. You want your work to matter, your voice to count, and your efforts to help real people win.

You’ll fit right in if you:

  • Have strong experience writing backend code in .NET and working with APIs and services
  • Have hands-on experience managing production Azure environments (or are eager to grow into it)
  • Are familiar with infrastructure as code (especially Bicep) and cloud security
  • Understand the big picture of IAM, CI/CD, and cloud networking
  • Communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with others

LET'S BUILD THE FUTURE TOGETHER

This is more than just a backend job - it’s a chance to help reshape the business of sports while growing your cloud expertise. If you're ready to build bold, secure systems that serve athletes at scale, we’d love to talk.
