Job summary

Vanguard is seeking an expert level IT technical lead to direct, evaluate, select, configure, implement, and integrate new and existing technologies and tools for a world-class mobile experience.

Join a hybrid team in Charlotte, NC, working with Node.js middleware for iOS and Android native apps. You will mentor, design, and develop with a focus on performance, observability, and agile delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years related work experience with at least 3 years of development experience.
• 3+ years of Node.js experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team to deliver mobile-focused features and performance improvements.
• Partner with architects to implement high-performance mobile applications.
• Mentor team on better use of platform components and performance best practices.
• Translate stories into design and code; develop test artifacts backed by automated tests.
• Lead system analysis, design, development, and implementation for existing mobile native apps.
• Follow Agile software development methodology and participate in architectural reviews.
• Establish a technical vision and communicate it across stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

• Demonstrate collaboration, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute wherever the team needs support.
• Partner with architects to implement high‑performance mobile applications.
• Research and summarize adjacent technology trends to provide guidance.
• Mentor the team on the “how” of better use of existing platform components and performance best practices.
• Apply software engineering fundamentals including object‑oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms.
• Use observability to continuously optimize your product capacity, performance, monitoring and alerting.
• Communicate technical issues effectively in a manner all audiences can understand.
• Establish and communicate a technical vision for your product.
• Work with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to prioritize work relative to both delivering business value and addressing technical debt.
• Lead system analysis, design, development, and implementation for our existing mobile native applications.
• Translate stories into design & code. Develop well‑engineered code and test artifacts backed by automated tests.
• Research and employ contemporary software development techniques to ensure quality and improve velocity of the team.
• Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow up production support. Submit change control requests and documents.
• Follow Agile software development methodology. Follow architecture standards and best practices.
• Lead in design, code, and test inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues. Participate in other meetings, such as those for use case creation.
• Foster and maintain an inclusive, highly collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:
