Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking a Back-Up Lead/Warehouse Person for a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night shift (6 PM–6 AM) in Memphis.

You will support the shift supervisor with shipping, receiving, order selection, and inventory control while ensuring SOPs and safety practices are followed. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and 0–3 years of experience, with emphasis on clear communication, adherence to GMPs, food safety guidelines, and strong attendance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Excellent communication skills: written and oral; proficient with computers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the shift supervisor with daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, order selection, and inventory control.
• Support safety, sanitation and housekeeping procedures and ensure compliance with SOPs and safety rules.
• Identify and report safety and operating issues to management; assist in planning, audits, and on-the-job training.
• Troubleshoot LGV alarms, reconcile inventory reports, and provide clerical support to distribution operations.
• Serve as backup lead when coverage is unavailable or workload is heavy.

Job description

Back-Up Lead/Warehouse Person
The schedule for this position is Saturday Sunday and Monday 6PM to 6AM. To assist the shift supervisor with daily operations utilizing hands on role with shipping receiving order selection inventory control safety reconditioning and sanitation. This position will act as a backup lead during times when no shift coverage is available and at times when schedules are heavy and additional supervision is required. Lead pay rate will be paid during the time required for the position.
Ensure all team members are following SOP’s and are operating safely. Identify and report to management and supervisor safety and operating issues.Assist in operational planning and support daily receipts shipments audits and order selection.Respond troubleshoot and resolve laser guided vehicle (LGV) alarm and alerts.Reconcile inventory reporting.Assist with on-the-job training for distribution team members.Ensure shift follows good housekeeping and sanitation procedures.Provide clerical support to the distribution operations.Departmental specific lead if necessary.Aid in the inventory control and lot traceability initiates.Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate with job tasks and areaOther duties as assigned.
