Job summary

Reworld in Dickerson, MD is seeking a Back Plant Operator to oversee the safe, efficient operation of industrial systems and equipment involved in Covanta's disposal process. You will perform inspections, troubleshoot issues, and support maintenance teams in a prevention-focused role.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned operational tasks and inspections using designated industrial equipment and hand/power tools.
• Complete routine inspections of equipment and document details per facility procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment and report issues through defined work order processes.
• Use weekly activity books and checklists to perform operation and equipment checks.
• Safely execute lock-out/tag-out procedures in support of maintenance teams.
• Assume additional duties to ensure safe, efficient facility operations.

About the role

As a Back Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations of industrial systems and equipment associated with Covanta's industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform assigned operational tasks and inspections utilizing various types of designated industrial equipment and hand/power tools
• Complete routine inspections of assigned equipment and document details in accordance with facility procedures
• Troubleshoot assigned equipment and responsibly report issues and repair requests utilizing defined work order processes and procedures
• Utilize weekly activity books and critical items checklist to perform operational and equipment related function checks
• Safely perform lock-out/tag-out processes of equipment in support of assigned maintenance teams
• Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Must have experience operating heavy industrial equipment
• Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 27.36 - 36.39 USD per hour
