Job summary

Covanta in Indianapolis seeks an Auxiliary Operator to work with our facility control room, operating and inspecting power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Covanta's industrial disposal process.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2–3 years operating heavy industrial equipment; must be able to rotate shifts. We offer competitive pay, day-one benefits, PTO, retirement plan and 401(k) match.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures.

• Read data from meters and gauges to identify trends or disruptions.
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment (cranes, skid steers, forklifts).
• Maintain correct refuse-fuel levels and ensure proper mix in pits and areas.

About the role

As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Covanta's industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment
• Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices
• Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations
• Monitor air pollution control equipment
• Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts
• Responsible to maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment, and ensure appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations
• Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment
• Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 28.85 - 38.41 USD per hour
