The Role

The Backend Software Engineer will be central to designing and delivering robust, scalable APIs that power a platform used by property investors, tenants, vendors, and internal operations teams. Day-to-day, you will collaborate closely with Frontend, Design, and Product colleagues to tackle complex, large-scale engineering challenges. You will be expected to write clean, minimal, and highly readable code, bringing both rigour and pace to everything you build.

What experience does the Backend Software Engineer need?

• Backend engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Java and AWS, ideally gained within fast-paced, high-autonomy environments
• A solid grasp of data structures and algorithms, alongside a track record of diagnosing performance issues, resolving bottlenecks, and delivering well-considered solutions under pressure
• The ability to write concurrent code designed to take full advantage of multi-core server infrastructure, balancing technical rigour with delivery speed
• Comfort working with AI-assisted development tooling and a genuine enthusiasm for continuous technical growth; self-taught engineers are very welcome to apply
