Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join a dynamic team of engineers working on public, federal, and industrial projects. You will assist with HVAC and plumbing system design, CADD modeling, and basic calculations, while gaining exposure to a range of disciplines.

You will contribute to project work and learn from industry leaders, with opportunities to participate in sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency designs.

Job Description

CDM Smith is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Summer 2027! You'll be working with a dynamic team of industry leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects. CDM Smith offers a full complement of mechanical engineering and support services to our clients. Our Mechanical services include: HVAC System Master Planning & Studies HVAC & Plumbing Systems Design Mechanical Systems Design (Co-Generation) Sustainability/Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy/Green Building Design

In this role you would perform a variety of tasks including:

• CADD 2D/3D and Modeling Experience for Building HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection Systems design.
• Basic Mechanical Engineering calculations General office clerical duties

Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
