Job summary

Job description

Babysitting & Home Alone Instructor

Cedar Hills Recreation Center is seeking instructors to teach babysitting and home alone classes to youth and teens in the community. The babysitting course is designed to help youth and teens learn what it takes to be a responsible, caring, trustworthy, capable, and safe babysitter. The home alone course prepares them to be safe and responsible while being home alone.

We are seeking flexible team members with the ability to support the needs of individuals, as well as manage groups of students, all while teaching introductory skills in their respective program area. Classes take place both indoors and outdoors, with an emphasis on safety and recreational fun!

We are currently hiring part-time instructors for the fall, winter, & spring, with the ability to continue year-round.

Positions
  • Instructor II: Must have at least 1-year of experience in leading and instructing general classes and be at least 16 years of age. The hiring range for this position is $21.81 to $24.59, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $21.81 - $24.59. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
  • Instructor III: Must have at least 2-years of experience in leading and instructing general classes and be at least 18 years of age. The hiring range for this position is $26.51, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $26.51 to $29.89. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Qualifications
  • Required to have FirstAid/CPR certification OR ability to obtain upon hire
  • Required to have babysitters and childcare teaching certifications OR ability to obtain upon hire
  • Experience and expertise in teaching youth or leading group programs in the related position
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse participants.
  • Passion for creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
  • Maintaining a neat and professional appearance to abide by dress code policies.
Schedule
  • Part-time with flexible hours based on program needs.
  • Staff schedules can range between 5 to 20 hours per week, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays with opportunities to work week days from 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM.
  • Part-Time Variable (PT): Employees generally work fewer than 20 hours per week and no more than 1,560 hours annually.
