Rugged Mountain Aviation in Garland, Utah, seeks a skilled Utility Helicopter Pilot to support aerial utility and infrastructure projects, including precision pole setting and external load operations.

You will perform thorough pre-flight and post-flight checks, maintain flight logs, and coordinate with ground crews. Willingness to travel to remote job sites as required; FAA rotorcraft certificate and external load experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have 500 hours external load experience.
  • 200 hours Bell Medium time preferred (UH-1, 205, 212, 214).
  • External Load / Long Line experience required.
  • Pole set experience required.
  • Class II medical certificate current.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate utility helicopters safely for power line construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with ground crews, linemen, and project managers for smooth aerial operations.
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections per FAA standards.
  • Maintain accurate flight logs and operational records.
  • Participate in safety briefings and job hazard analyses.
  • Ensure aircraft cleanliness and maintenance reporting; assist maintenance during check flights.
  • Travel to remote job sites as required (potential extended stays).

Description

Rugged Mountain Aviation is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Utility Helicopter Pilot to join our team of professionals supporting aerial utility and infrastructure operations. This position involves external load operations, including precision pole setting and other critical infrastructure support missions.

Job Requirements:
  • 500 Hours External Load
  • 200 Hours Bell Medium Time Preferred (UH-1, 205, 212, 214)
  • FAA Commercial Rotorcraft Certificate
  • External Load / Long Line Experience
  • Pole Set Experience
  • Bell Medium Experience preferred
  • Class II Medical Certificate (current)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate utility helicopters safely and efficiently in support of power line construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate closely with ground crews, linemen, and project managers to ensure smooth aerial operations
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections in compliance with company and FAA standards
  • Maintain accurate flight logs and operational records
  • Participate in safety briefings, job hazard analyses, and ongoing training sessions
  • Ensure aircraft cleanliness, readiness, and maintenance reporting
  • Assist maintenance personnel in operational check flights.
  • Adhere to all FAA regulations, company SOPs, and safety protocols
  • Travel to remote job sites as required (may include extended stays in the field)
Compensation & Schedule
  • Full-time salary offered. Negotiable on experience.
