About this position

PURPOSE AND ROLE: The B PLUS Operator operates the HDT, stabilized and Crude Units. This position is part of the transition to integrate knowledge and operational expertise of these processes into the plant’s current operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate HDT / Stabilizer / Crude Units.
  • Train and mentor operations personnel on safe policies and procedures across all operations.
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize safety hazards and repair issues and communicate problems and solutions in a timely and appropriate manner to supervisors and crew members.
  • Problem solve on difficult areas / safety / process / environmental.
  • Upon qualification, issue and monitor safe work permits.
  • Demonstrate high level of working knowledge of petroleum refinery operations in general.
  • Work a 7-day-on-7-day-off shift schedule.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience with dual process units or 10+ years of experience with a single process unit.
  • Be able to perform work activities and demonstrate leadership as priorities dictate.
  • Must be able to identify diesel hydrotreating unit (DHT) consequences of deviations and adhere to HAZOP identified priorities.
  • Must be able to anticipate mechanical integrity items before failures.

  • Computer & Digital Literacy - ability to access, manage, understand, integrate, communicate, evaluate and create information safely and appropriately through digital devices and networked technologies.
  • Mechanical Aptitude - ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts and principles such as, but not limited to, sounds, heat conduction, velocity, gravity, friction, pressure, kinetic and potential energy, etc. when working or using mechanical machinery.
  • Operation & Control - understanding of how process controls and automation are used to operate equipment in process plant.
  • Operation Monitoring - ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Quality Control Analysis - ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Safety - in difficult or complex situations, ability to recognize safety risks in operational activities and use appropriate measures to control and manage identified risks.
  • Safety Awareness - ability to recognize and identify potential hazards. Evaluates changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others. Understands potential threats created by deviation from safety procedures and improper use of tools and equipment. Uses personal protection equipment. Uses tools and equipment in compliance with manuals and training. Calls attention to potential and actual hazardous conditions as they arise. Demonstrates knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures. Stops work if there are unsafe working conditions.
  • Systems Analysis - ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
Salary Information

$41 - $43 Hourly Wage
