Job Summary

This position is responsible for monitoring incoming and outgoing shipping activities, including paperwork, package preparation, and logistics associated with timeframes and routing packages to appropriate carriers. This position also verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments, ensures finished products meet company standards, examines shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor incoming and outgoing shipping activities, including paperwork, package preparation, and logistics associated with timeframes and routing packages to appropriate carriers
  • Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and ensures finished products meet company standards
  • Examine shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules
  • Unloading and inspecting incoming shipments.
  • Verifying contents against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Identifying and reporting any damage or discrepancies.
  • Sorting and storing received materials in designated areas.
  • Preparing outgoing shipments by packing items securely and labeling them correctly.
  • Ensuring accurate shipping documents and bills of lading.
  • Coordinating with shipping carriers for pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Assisting with general warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhering to safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Communicating with vendors and other departments.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records by updating databases or inventory management systems.
  • Monitoring stock levels to ensure adequate supply.
  • Assisting with inventory counts and audits.
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

Job Specifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required

Experience

  • Previous warehouse experience is preferred

Qualifications

  • Must be able to prepare production reports in a clear and accurate manner (basic math and verbal skills).
  • Must be able to learn all jobs required in Fabricated Products.
  • Capable of doing multiple tasks

Employee Is Required To Execute The Following

  • Must perform duties requiring use of small hand tools
  • Must be capable of operating a forklift.
  • Possible exposure to elements requiring the production of finished goods
  • Must be able to perform detailed repetitive movement of hands and arms
  • Lift up to 50 pounds periodically without assistance
  • Work up to a height of 5 feet
  • Exposure to high heat and/or cold.
  • Clean work areas and maintain a clean work environment; perform 5S cleaning activities as required.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The duties of this position are performed throughout the entire floor space of Alkegen.

Duties are performed primarily in manufacturing areas where compliance with applicable safety rules is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is moderate.
