B Lineman - Underground (Duke) (Maintenance)

Position Summary: The Class B Lineman Underground is a semi-skilled position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. This role requires working at various locations and may involve travel to other states based on customer demands.

Essential Functions:

• Perform safe construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized underground systems.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems.
• Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits.
• Work with energized high voltage systems, requiring safety precautions.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Identify primary and secondary voltages on circuits.
• Understand induced voltage and how to use a load buster tool.
• Install and connect single-phase transformers.
• Safely set poles and understand equipment setup and grounding.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Properly install and remove PPE and cover-up.
• Check voltage on transformers and tie in primary conductors.
• Climb various structures and possess necessary tools.
• Phase out lines using phasing sticks and operate reclosers.
• Conduct pre-job or tailgate safety briefings.
• Work live on high voltage lines with proper safety measures.
• Install and remove mechanical jumpers safely.
• Minimum 3 years of recent field experience.
• Obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment; CDL preferred.
• Travel long distances on short notice and work in various locations.
• Lift over 50 lbs and inspect PPE and rubber goods.
• Work overtime, weekends, holidays, and in inclement weather as needed.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle, and reach.

Work Environment: Exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme conditions, and loud noise. Outside weather conditions apply.
