Job summary

Promotive in Bend, OR is seeking an experienced automotive technician to perform DVIs, diagnostics, and repairs across domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. You will work with a three-bay shop equipped with professional tools and a focus on reconditioning used vehicles for dealership inventory.

The role requires 3–4 years of professional repair experience, strong diagnostic capabilities, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with shop leadership.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of professional automotive repair experience preferred.
• Ability to diagnose and repair multiple makes including domestic, Asian, European.
• Experience with brake, suspension, steering, cooling systems.
• Familiar with automotive diagnostic tools and DVIs; training available.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive DVIs to identify mechanical concerns and required repairs.
• Diagnose and repair domestic, Asian, and European vehicles including brake, suspension, steering, and cooling systems.
• Perform general automotive maintenance and component removal/replacement.
• Use Snap-on Triton and Autel MaxiSys tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Identify root causes and complete repairs to prep dealer inventory.
• Document inspection findings and repairs accurately through the digital inspection process.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and ensure quality standards.

Job description

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Flexible Start Times Available)

Pay Rate: $25-$36/hour, based on experience and skill level

Pay Type: Hourly Pay

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive digital vehicle inspections (DVIs) to identify mechanical concerns, maintenance needs, and necessary repairs.
• Diagnose and repair domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, including brake, suspension, steering, and cooling systems.
• Complete general automotive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and removal and replacement (R&R) of vehicle components.
• Use Snap-on Triton and Autel MaxiSys diagnostic scan tools to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Perform independent mechanical and electrical diagnostics at the A-Level, or develop advanced diagnostic skills with shop manager support at the B-Level.
• Identify root causes of vehicle concerns and complete repairs necessary to prepare used vehicles for dealership inventory.
• Document inspection findings, repair recommendations, and completed work accurately through the shop's digital vehicle inspection process.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while completing repairs efficiently and to established quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous professional automotive repair experience in a dealership or independent repair shop required; 3-4 years of experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform automotive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and component removal and replacement.
• Strong understanding of automotive braking, suspension, steering, cooling, and general mechanical systems.
• A-Level candidates must demonstrate independent mechanical and electrical diagnostic capabilities; B-Level candidates should have solid repair experience and developing diagnostic skills.
• Experience servicing multiple makes and models, including domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic scan tools and digital vehicle inspections, with training available on the shop's inspection process.
• Ability to work independently, communicate repair findings clearly, and collaborate with shop leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications preferred but not required.
• Experience with Tekmetric or similar automotive shop management software.
• Experience performing digital vehicle inspections (DVIs).
• Advanced electrical troubleshooting and automotive diagnostic skills, including experience with European vehicles.
• B-Level Technician: $25-$30/hour, based on experience and skill level.
• A-Level Technician: $30-$36/hour, based on experience and skill level.
• Pay Type: Hourly.
• Paid Time Off: One week after one year of employment, with additional PTO based on tenure and company policy.
• Paid Holidays: Company-provided paid holidays.
• ASE Certification Reimbursement: Testing costs reimbursed upon successful completion of ASE certification exams.
• Monday-Friday Schedule: Regular hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with weekends off.
