Job summary

SHI International Corp. is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud SQL Database Administrator to oversee day‑to‑day production SQL environments in Microsoft Azure, focusing on Azure SQL Managed Instances, data services, and high availability.

You will collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to ensure reliable, secure database operations, implement backups, DR, and performance tuning in a remote managed services setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands‑on experience in a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL database environments, including at least 2–3 years administering production SQL workloads in Microsoft Azure.
• Managed services experience is preferred.
• Experience supporting both Azure SQL Managed Instances and SQL Server deployed on Azure IaaS virtual machines.
• Strong knowledge of: Backup and restore strategies, HA/DR, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, maintain, optimize, patch, and troubleshoot Azure SQL Managed Instances and SQL Server on Azure IaaS.
• Monitor database health, performance, connectivity, availability, replication, and synchronization.
• Implement indexing, statistics, and query tuning for high‑volume transactional databases.
• Administer and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines and integrations that interact with SQL platforms.
• Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure SQL Elastic Jobs.
• Support Azure data platform technologies, including Azure analytics services, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, and CDC.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Change Data Capture (CDC), including SQL Agent processes, retention, latency, and dependencies.
• Configure, test, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure SQL failover groups and replication for high‑volume workloads.
• Perform planned maintenance, deployments, schema changes, and production updates through change control processes.
• Develop operational documentation, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and disaster recovery runbooks.
• Lead or participate in managed services projects aligned with customer objectives.
• Engage directly with customers through incidents, changes, meetings, and status communications while maintaining documentation.
