Job summary

Makai is seeking a Senior Azure Platform/DevOps Engineer to design and run cloud platforms for clients. You will stand up a Terraform foundation from scratch, manage the evolving topology, and own the end-to-end integration of networks, compute, data, and pipelines on Azure.

The role requires deep Azure experience, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to work closely with client DevOps engineers to plan, execute, and rollback when needed.

Qualifications

• Azure production experience with sizing and risk awareness.
• Ability to size up unfamiliar Azure/topology setups and own the result.
• Experience running migrations and writing runbooks with rollback plans.
• Proven track record of collaboration with client DevOps engineers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Stand up new Azure platforms from scratch (network, compute, data, pipelines).
• Make architecture calls and manage in-place updates vs. destructive changes in production.
• Run migrations to new foundations with proper runbooks and rollback.
• Maintain platform health with upgrades, drift control, and security.
• Collaborate directly with client DevOps to plan, unblock failures, and own outcomes.
